On the twenty-fourth day of our road trip, we pulled into a secluded spot in the back corner of a half-full campground. There was a river and shade. We had started that morning at a cave tour in Great Basin National Park (highly recommend) near Baker, NV, and then cruised 512 miles, across the state into eastern Oregon. The project was to keep the dogs from going bonkers while getting somewhere slightly less hot.
